Portraits & Headshots with Cameron Grayson

Cameron Grayson is an Australian-based photographer with a distinguished international career. His journey began studying Graphic Design at Swinburne University in Melbourne during the early 1990’s before transitioning to photography. He earned a B.A from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) where he developed a strong technical foundation through hands-on experience processing and hand printing both colour and black- and-white film across all formats. At age 26 Cameron moved to New York, and by 28 he secured his first New York agent- an important milestone that helped launch his international career.

In his final year at RMIT, Cameron was selected to represent the college in an international photographic competition hosted by BMW Munich. Cameron was judged the winner by legendary photographers such as Richard Avedon, Michel Comte, Anton Corbjin and Bettina Rehiems, this achievement propelled him to New York in 2000. There he furthered his studies at Parsons School of Design and apprenticed under some of the worlds leading photographers including Steven Klein, Francois Nars, Cedric Buchet, Jan Welters, Katy Jones, Chris Floyd, and Max Vudukal.

A pivotal moment in Cameron’s career was working as Max Vudukal’s first assistant for a number of years. Max who is one of only two photographers in history - alongside Richard Avedon - ever to be signed by The New Yorker, profoundly influenced Cameron’s approach to story telling and cinematic visual style.

His assisting experience includes work for L’Uomo Vogue, Vogue Italia, Vogue US, i-D, Numero and Russian Vogue, as well as campaigns for brands like Yohji Yamamoto and Victorias Secret. Cameron has collaborated with industry icons such as Nicolleta Santoro, Brana Wolf, Guido, Ward Stegerhoek, Odile Gilbert and Fabian Baron. He also assisted director Tony Kay on commercial shoots seamlessly blending stills and motion.

With over 100 celebrity cover shoots and major network campaigns for Paramount and Network 10, Cameron has established himself as a leading portrait photographer. When top film directors like Patrick Hughes and Greg Mclean need their portraits taken they turn to Cameron for his expertise and creative vision.

Cameron’s work has been published worldwide, with advertising campaigns reaching over 64 countries and billboards in major cities.

After returning to Australia in 2008 he continued working internationally while building a reputation as a prominent celebrity portrait artist, gracing numerous magazine covers and brad campaigns.

His extensive background enables him to fuse design and emotional through technical mastery and cinematic storytelling.

Currently as a Photographic Director, he combines his skills across stills and motion. Helping emerging brands and talent find their voice on the global stage . Known for his relaxed and effortless working style. Cameron’s approach naturally disarms subjects allowing creative vision to flourish.
